Anastasio Named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week

Senior scored game-winning Golden Goal against Maine on Sunday night.
AMHERST, Mass. - After scoring the game-winning Golden Goal in Sunday night's 2-1 overtime win against Maine, UMass women's soccer senior Salma Anastasio has been named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Anastasio's game-winner came just under two minutes into the extra time where she had a wonderful individual effort to collect a loose ball in front of the goal before getting a strike on it to seal the win.
Maine scored just a minute into the match and lead for much of the rained-soaked evening at Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine. Anastasio helped equalize the match in the 81st minute when she set-up Erin Doster's game-tying goal. That forced overtime and set-up the walk-off win heroics.
The victory marked the first of the season for the Minutewomen who will next return home to Rudd Field this Friday, Sept. 8 when Delaware visits. Kick-off is set for 4 PM and the match will be streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network.
