Hoeller Honored By National Football Foundation

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts football senior Fabian Hoeller has been named to the 2017 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced on Wednesday.
Hoeller, a senior from Roesrath, Germany, is a two-time academic all-conference honoree and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. At center, he started all 12 games in 2016 and started 39 career contests with the offensive line. He blocked for the UMass offense that averaged 23.3 points, 99.5 rushing yards and 256.7 passing yards per game in 2016. With Hoeller up front, UMass scored 27 passing TDs and 10 rushing TDs.
A total of 1,089 players from 297 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year, both new single-year records in the history of the program. The initiative has honored 7,723 student-athletes since its inception, and the program has experienced growth every year in either members or school participation since its launch in 2007.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university; achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
Renewals and new season ticket sales for the 2017 season are underway and can be purchased by calling the UMass Athletics Ticket Office at 1866-UMASS-TIX, visiting the Mullins Center Ticket Office (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) or by clicking here.
