Plimpton Joins Stefanoni’s Softball Staff
August 03, 2016 | Softball
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts head softball coach Kristi Stefanoni announced the addition of Chelsea Plimpton to her staff on Wednesday. Plimpton pitched at Fordham and previously coached at Towson, Fordham and Marist. With the Minutewomen, she will serve as pitching coach.
"Chelsea Plimpton is a tremendous addition to our staff and the UMass family," Stefanoni said. "She's played and coached at levels that'll be an asset to our program, especially her Atlantic 10 experience. We generated a lot of momentum last season and we look forward to Chelsea being a part of carrying it forward."
Most recently, Plimpton served as pitching coach at Towson for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons. She spent the 2013 season as an assistant at Fordham, where she was part of a coaching staff that led the Rams to an Atlantic 10 Tournament title. Plimpton spent the 2012 season on the softball staff at Marist.
"I want to thank Kristi Stefanoni and UMass Athletics for this opportunity", Plimpton said. "I have always had the utmost respect for the UMass softball program and its history. It's an honor to now be a part of it."
As a player for the Rams, Plimpton finished with a 40-16 lifetime record and was third in both career shutouts and strikeouts at Fordham. She's a 2011 Fordham graduate with a degree in communications and media studies.
