AMHERST, Mass. –
Freshman forward Bobby Trivigno
has been selected as the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on the back of helping University of Massachusetts hockey to its ninth-straight win last Friday. After extending their program record and nation's longest active winning streak, the Minutemen, currently 12-1-0 (7-0-0 HEA), have moved up to No. 1 in the USCHO.com poll for the first time in program history.
Trivigno posted his second multi-goal game of the season last Friday night as UMass downed UConn, 7-4 at the Mullins Center. The Setauket, New York, native opened the scoring early in the first, the 12th time in 13 games this season the Minutemen have scored the first goal of the game. He later added an important insurance goal in the third to give UMass a three-goal cushion at 6-3.
Having appeared in 12 games thus far, Trivigno is sixth for the Minutemen in scoring with nine points on our goals and five assists.
A top-10 matchup awaits UMass this weekend as the No. 1 Minutemen will play No. 8 Quinnipiac in a home-and-home, beginning in Hamden, Connecticut on Friday night, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
